It was a busy day in first grade!  It was another Wacky Wednesday!  We read our story, Boots for Beth, while holding our noses.  Boy, did we sound funny!  Then we practiced our spelling words by playing Musical Spelling.  It is sort of like Musical Chairs but with a twist.  We loved the music!  Our day ended with a Character Counts assembly.  Three of our classmates read how he or she is a respectful kid in front of the entire school.  We are very proud of them...it's not easy!  Enjoy

Hello,

It's just another Wacky Wednesday in first grade.  We read our weekly story Dan's Pet under our desks.  We called this Earthquake Reading because we would go under our desks in the event of an earthquake.  We also played Sparkle Spelling.  Enjoy the photos of our fun morning!

Hello,

Today we had Pajama Day.  We also had bus evacuation training.  The bus company came to the school to teach bus safety.  The bus driver really liked our p.j.'s.

Enjoy the photos!!!

Hello,

This week we had our school social worker come into our classroom to talk about bullying and getting along with others.  We learned what bullying is and the different ways to bully others.  The children seemed very interested. Hopefully some of the children will have internalized the presentation

I took a couple of photos of our classroom to show a few projects we have been working on.  We made skeletons out of Q-Tips after discussing bones.  We made Christopher Columbus boats and wrote important facts on the sails.  We read the book Are You My Mummy?  We made our own versions of a mummy and wrote about what they do when they are scared.  We made anthills and used raisins for ants to make simple addition problems, and we wrote about Five Things That Scare Us and colored a Frankenstein.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  We also wrote an acrostic Fall Poem.

Hello First Grade Parents,

I am new to blogging, so please be patient as I navigate through unfamiliar territory.  I am going to try to keep you all updated with our classroom activities.

Every week we have Wacky Wednesday.  Wacky Wednesday is when we read our story in a Wacky Way.  Today we read our story in a happy voice.  We also practice our spelling words in a Wacky Way.  We went on a classroom scavenger hunt looking for our spelling words.  I hope that you enjoy the photos.
